The Medisis care pathway – innovate secure remunerate

Doctor Gwendoline Lesperlette is a hospital pharmacist. She works at the Lunéville Hospital – France in the field of clinical pharmacy.

She started her career as MEDISIS project manager in a follow-up and revalidation care, where she implemented the MEDISIS care pathway.

Since June 2021, she is the coordinator of the MEDISIS Article 51 experiment. Her missions are to manage the experimentation and to accompany the implementation of a patient-centred care pathway – MEDISIS, within the Grand Est region. This project, financed by the Assurance Maladie within the framework of an article of the law on the financing of social security, combines innovation with the reengineering of drug management and remuneration. Medication-related iatrogeny among patients is the target of the MEDISIS project, which aims to reduce the need for hospitalisation. The derogation from the current financing rules should guarantee the sustainability of the MEDISIS care pathway. Its generalisation and the resulting remuneration will, in the future, enable clinical pharmacy activities to be valued. Finally, MEDISIS aims to implement the concept of territoriality with the decompartmentalization of city-hospital and the links with faculties and between health professionals.
